One thing i love about BV is how many different types of nerds come together to make awesome stuff with plastic bricks. You have your Star Wars nerds, your castle nerds (putting my hand up!), your train nerds, your arty nerds and of course, your science and engineering nerds… I don’t know if Ross Crawford would call himself an engineering nerd, but he’s done a wonderful job of making this replica of the CSIRO Parkes Radio Telescope. He had a information card next to his model explaining the history and function of “the dish”, as well as the model’s functionality. The model houses an NXT programmable brick that can be remotely controlled to make the dish turn 360 degrees with a 60 degree tilt! Very cool.
